Committee Descriptions
Below you will find a brief description of the volunteer committees and jobs that support the Michelob ULTRA Open at Kingsmill. Depending on the committee served, activities may be required before, during, or after tournament week. A variety of committee openings may become available; however, specific openings are not guaranteed. Some committees schedule mandatory training sessions prior to service in order to familiarize volunteers with their specific duties.

Caddie Committee - Responsibilities include caddie registration, towel and vest distribution, manning the caddie hospitality area, recruiting a small pool of caddies for potential use by professional golfers, and recruiting fore-caddies for the Wednesday Pro-Am. Volunteers for this committee needed Saturday prior to tournament week through Sunday of tournament week.

Cart Committee - Responsibilities include checking carts out to proper committees and tournament officials, assisting in cart control, and maintaining a safe operating environment. Volunteers needed from the Wednesday before tournament week through the Sunday of tournament week.

Communications Equipment - Responsibilities include maintaining an equipment inventory, participating in equipment training and teaching others how to use that equipment, and distributing phones, pagers, and radios to appropriate committee members. Committee volunteers needed the Saturday before tournament week through the Sunday of tournament week.

Corporate Hospitality - Responsibilities include greeting patrons and checking for appropriate credentials for admission into corporate tents and skyboxes. Volunteers for this committee needed Thursday – Sunday

Emergency Preparedness - Committee members ensure that on-course signage, bunting and flags are installed and maintained. Members must also respond to, and repair other issues that may arise during tournament week. Volunteers needed the Thursday before tournament week through the Monday following tournament week.

Exhibits Committee - This committee helps exhibitors locate and set up their assigned exhibit space while providing liaison and problem-solving services between the tournament office and exhibitors. Volunteers work Wednesday – Sunday.

Fan Information - Committee members are required to have previous experience with the tournament and knowledge of Kingsmill and the Williamsburg area. Located at stations in the Expo area and near the golf clubhouse, members answer a variety of questions posed by spectators, sell tournament programs, and hand out pairing sheets and other promotional items.Volunteers for this committee needed Tuesday – Sunday.

Finance Committee - Responsibilities include cashing checks for players and caddies as well as selling tickets occasionally. Members will work closely with the accounting department and should be comfortable counting and balancing money. Committee members needed Monday – Sunday.

First Aid Committee - Local doctors and nurses provide first aid assistance to spectators, fans, volunteers, etc. who are attending the tournament and become injured in some way. Local medics and firefighters also provide Emergency Medical Services support.  Volunteers work Monday – Sunday.

Greenside Scorers - Members are located greenside and are responsible for receiving scores from walking scorers, entering the scorers into a PDA, and reporting scores to scoring central by radio. Committee volunteers needed Wednesday – Sunday. A mandatory one-day training session takes place the Saturday prior to tournament week.

Leaderboard - Members maintain the on-course leaderboard that indicates the scores and positions of tournament leaders. Volunteers needed Thursday – Sunday.

Marshals - Members are assigned throughout the course. They enforce golf etiquette by controlling the flow and noise level of spectator traffic, provide ball location assistance, and alert the gallery of any potential hazards during professional play. Volunteers for this committee needed Wednesday – Sunday. A training session also takes place prior to tournament week.

Monday Special Events - This committee conducts the special events that take place on Monday of tournament week. These events include the Ladies Qualifying on the Plantation Course, the Caddie Tournament on the Bray Links, and the Monday Charity Pro-Am. Responsibilities include assembling gift packs, registering participants, preparing appropriate materials for each event, transporting golf bags to carts, making opening announcements, attaining final scores, and participating in awards ceremony. These volunteers are needed the Monday and Saturday of tournament week.

Player Services - This committee welcomes the LPGA players to the tournament and assists with official registration. In addition, members supply players with all tournament related information, assist with mail and message delivery, and connect players with the appropriate resources for their needs. Volunteers for this committee needed Sunday – Sunday.

Press Relations - Volunteers assist in the operations of the media center. Responsibilities include registering the media, answering questions, providing and distributing information, answering the phone line, and transporting players for interviews. Volunteers for this committee needed Monday – Sunday.

Pro-Am Wednesday - This committee provides support for all aspects of the Wednesday Pro-Am Tournament, associated practice tournaments, pairings party and awards parties. Responsibilities include amateur registration, assembling and distributing gift packs, assisting with social events, preparing tournament materials, and distributing prizes. Volunteers needed from the Saturday before tournament week through the Wednesday of tournament week. Additional assistance is also needed in April.

Scoreboard - Members support and assist the official scorekeeper by tallying scores from copies of the official scorecard, calling out scores to scorekeeper, and checking for any discrepancies between scorecards and the official scoring database. Committee volunteers needed Thursday – Sunday.

Scoring Central - Responsibilities include receiving radio reports from greenside scorers and posting those scores into a computer scoring system. Members work closely with LPGA scoring officials. Committee volunteers needed Wednesday – Sunday.

Scoring Standards - Standard bearers carry a standard sign and walk the entire course with an LPGA group. They are paired with a walking scorer and are responsible for posting each player's score in relation to par on their standard in order to keep the gallery updated. Volunteers work Thursday – Sunday. High School students (ages 14 to 18) are permitted to work on the weekend only. A one-day training session takes place prior to tournament week.

Signage Committee - This committee posts and maintains all off-course signage containing directional information for the public about the event. Committee volunteers needed from the Friday before tournament week through the Monday following tournament week.

Starters - Members of this committee are posted at the starting tees and the finishing greens. Members must be extremely comfortable announcing information to the gallery and must become familiar with the pronunciation of player names. Committee volunteers needed Wednesday – Sunday.

Traffic & Parking - Volunteers assist with off-site public parking, check for appropriate parking passes for onsite parking, and redirect unauthorized vehicles to appropriate locations. Members also control vehicular traffic at crosswalks.  Volunteers needed Monday – Sunday.

Transportation - This committee transports LPGA players to and from the local airports as well as around town in vehicles donated for tournament use by area auto dealers. Members take transportation reservations by telephone, maintain a vehicle database to account for vehicle assignments, and drive vehicles locally. All members must have a valid driver’s license and complete the required driving record forms.  Volunteers needed from the Sunday before tournament week through the Monday following tournament week. All volunteers on this committee required to work a shift on the Sunday of professional play.

Walking Scorers - A member is assigned to walk the entire course with a group. The volunteer must record the score and statistics for each player, report the scorers to the greenside scorer, keep the standard bearer updated, and maintain the pace of play. Volunteers needed Wednesday through Sunday.

Will Call - Members distribute tickets that have been purchased by phone or placed in will call by sponsors and LPGA players, and answer phone inquiries regarding purchasing tickets. Volunteers must check identification in order to distribute complimentary tickets to those with appropriate credentials. Volunteers needed Monday – Sunday.
