2007 Event Recap

SUNDAY, MAY 13, 2007

Playoff for the Win

Tournament week was filled with activity, enhanced by beautiful weather, packed with top-level competition, and concluded with an exciting finish.  Suzann Pettersen and Jee Young Lee finished Sunday’s round tied at 274 (-10) and faced a playoff to determine who would walk away with the coveted trophy, $330,000 prize and a spot in the season-ending, limited field ADT Championship.  The honor was captured by first-time winner Suzann Petersen when she sunk a one foot putt during the third hole of sudden death to claim her long awaited victory.

After capturing her first LPGA Tour victory and thereby becoming the first Norwegian to win an LPGA Event, Pettersen stated, “It feels special, I must say. I didn't expect to win. After yesterday, I thought it was okay, I'm a little too far back, but I'm still in the hunt. So I just thought if I can get out and post a number, that would be good and that's what I tried to do. I played really good.”

After holding the lead during the first two rounds, Sarah Lee took third place finishing three strokes behind the leaders at (-7) and recorded her second top-10 finish of the season. Tied for fourth and rounding out the top-five were Stacy Prammanasudh and Paula Creamer finishing the tournament with a 6-under-par 278.

Happy Mothers Day!

There were 13 of the 30 LPGA Tour moms who played in the field this week with 4 teeing it up this Mother’s Day.  Juli Inkster, Carin Koch, Leta Lindley, and Catriona Matthew spent their day on the course knowing that their family would be waiting with hugs on the 18th green.

8 Is Enough and 15 Is Preferred

Hole 8 took honors as the toughest for the week, with players averaging 4.259 strokes on the par-4, 401-yard hole.  Hole 8 surrendered just 39 birdies, and dished out 117 bogeys and 15 double-bogeys.
Hole 15 can claim to be a favorite hole amongst the players averaging 4.801 strokes on the par-5, 473-yard hole. Hole 15 gave out 1 eagle, 125 birdies, and dished out only 35 bogeys and 3 double-bogeys.

Turner claims the Second Hole-In-One

Sherri Turner recorded the second hole-in-one of the tournament and sixth of her career. She aced the 13th hole with an 8-iron from 146 yards.

The End of a Streak

Cristie Kerr and Mi Hyun Kim share a common thread as the only participants who have finished in the top 10 at all four previous tournaments.  Sadly this streak ended today with Mi Hyun Kim finishing tied at 23 and Kerr finishing tied at 36.
