MICHELOB
ULTRA OPEN DAILY MEDIA BRIEFING
- FINAL ROUND
Final Round, May 14, 2006
Webb
Karrie Webb earned her second
LPGA Tour victory of the young
2006 season, leading the tournament
from start to finish for her
first Michelob ULTRA Open at
Kingsmill title. Battling wind
gusts in the mid-20mph range,
Webb shot a 1-under, 70 during
the final round to finish at
14-under for the tournament
and earn a 7-stroke victory
over now three-time runner-up
Lorena Ochoa and Hee-Won Han
at -7. Webb's total of 66-68-66-70=270
(-14) for 72 holes is a tournament
record, and makes her the first
LPGA Tour event champion of
2006 - and the first in Michelob
ULTRA Open history – to
lead an event from start to
finish. Webb, at 31 years, 144
days, is the oldest Michelob
ULTRA Open champion by nearly
four years.
The victory marks Webb’s
second on tour this year and
32nd career LPGA victory. She
won the Kraft Nabisco Championship
on April 2, and has two second-place
finishes as well. Ochoa finished
second to Webb at the Kraft
Nabisco Championship, and tied
her for second at the Ginn Clubs
and Resorts Open. Previously,
Ochoa was the Michelob ULTRA
Open runner-up in 2003 and 2004.
Webb entered the final round
with a 5-stroke lead over Ochoa,
’05 champion Cristie Kerr,
and Pat Hurst. Ochoa bogeyed
the 18th Hole to shoot +1 on
the day and fall into a tie
with Hee-Won Han for second
place. Kerr and Hurst each shot
a 73 (+2) to tie for fourth
place with Paula Creamer, who
shot -2 on the day to seal her
best finish of 2006.
Webb takes home a first-place
check for $330,000.
Webb Takes Over Money Lead
Karrie Webb’s victory
launches her into first place
on the 2006 ADT Official Money
List. Webb now has $935,202
in season winnings, after adding
$330,000 to her total with the
Michelob ULTRA Open win. Ochoa
falls to second on the list
with $919,888.
2007 Dates
The 2007 Michelob ULTRA Open
at Kingsmill will take place
May 7-13 on the River Course.
Always A Bridesmaid …
Lorena Ochoa’s bogey on
18 in the Final Round landed
her in second place for the
fifth time on the 2006 LPGA
Tour and the third time at the
Michelob ULTRA Open (’03,
’04, ’06). Ochoa
has seven top-four finishes
in 2006 including three consecutive
runner-up finishes.
Han Earns Season-Best Second
Hee-Won Han earned her best
finish of the young 2006 season,
shooting -1, 70 in the final
round to finish tied for second.
Han has three top-six finishes
in 2006, including placing fifth
in her previous two outings
prior to the Michelob ULTRA
Open. Han was the 2001 Louise
Suggs Rookie of the Year.

Hole 8 took top honors at the
toughest for the week, with
players averaging 4.327 strokes
on the par-4, 401-yard hole.
Hole 8 surrendered just 24 birdies,
and dished out 141 bogeys and
10 double-bogeys.

Weather A Factor

marks the second consecutive
year that weather has been a

out Friday's Second Round at
approximately 10 a.m. The Tournament
continued Saturday, with the
cut made Saturday night, and
the final two rounds played
on Sunday.
